Services & Pricing Options
MONTHLY TUTORING BLOCK (Virtual)
Most students working with PhD Tutoring of The Delaware Valley work with us through monthly or quarterly tutoring blocks.
Standard monthly tutoring blocks provide you with a minimum of six hours of online tutoring, normally provided across four 90 minute sessions. This provides our students with three advantages:
1. $60 discount over paying for tutoring services weekly
2. Four free weekly 10 minute midweek check-ins with your tutor to go over any concepts you are having trouble with, get advice, and review your weekly progress between meetings.
3. Flexibility if you need to cancel or change an appointment.
Standard monthly online tutoring blocks are $390 for the first 6 hours, inclusive of midweek check-ins. Additional hours of tutoring during the contact month are provided at $65 an hour (offered in 15-minute increments of $16.25), and will be added to your following month’s bill.
Lite monthly online tutoring blocks provide 4 hours of tutoring per month, include two free 10 minute mid-week check-ins, and are priced at $299.
MONTHLY TUTORING BLOCK (In-Person)
Most students working with PhD Tutoring of The Delaware Valley work contract for monthly or quarterly tutoring blocks. In-Person tutoring is only available with monthly or quarterly contracts. Monthly tutoring blocks provide you with a minimum of six hours of online tutoring, normally provided across four 90 minute sessions. This provides our students with three advantages:
1. $60 discount over paying for tutoring services weekly
2. Four free weekly 10 minute midweek check-ins with your tutor to go over any concepts you are having trouble with, get advice, and review your weekly progress between meetings.
3. Flexibility if you need to cancel or change an appointment.
Monthly in-person tutoring blocks are $468 for the first 6 hours, inclusive of midweek virtual check-ins. Additional hours of tutoring during the contact month are provided at $65 an hour (offered in 15-minute increments of $16.25), and will be added to your following month’s bill.
Please note our tutors can meet our clients in their own home or office, or in a neutral location, such as a bookshop cafe or coffee shop. The agreed location must be within a 30-mile radius of the Walt Whitman Bridge in Philadelphia, PA, or a 25-mile radius of Wilmington, DE. The radii of these two locations overlap with each other.
If you book five 75-minute sessions during the month, there is no upcharge other than the exta quarter hour of tutoring time ($16.25.)
In the event that you require six 60-minute in-person sessions, an upcharge of $35 will be applied to your account for the additional travel time incured.
QUARTERLY TUTORING BLOCKS (ONLINE, IN-PERSON OR HYBRID)
PhD Tutoring of The Delaware Valley offers a 10% discount for clients who opt for quarterly rather than monthly tutoring contracts. Additionally, your quarterly minimum covers two further hours of pre-paid tutoring than you would have had paying monthly. Quarterly Contract Students also get three extra free check-in calls during each contract period.
Online Quarterly: $1,052.00
In-Person Quarterly: $1,262.00
Hybrid Quarterly: $1,185.00
MONTHLY TUTORING BLOCK (HYBRID)
Some students prefer to mix online learning with learn in person. Our in-person meetings can be in your home or office, or in a neutral location, such as a bookshop cafe or coffee shop.
PhD Tutoring of The Delaware Valley can provide in-person tutoring at a location of your chosing anywhere within a 30-mile radius of the Walt Whitman Bridge in Philadelphia, PA, or a 25-mile radius of Wilmington, DE. (The radii of these two locations overlap with each other.) Hybrid blocks allow for up to two in-person teaching sessions per month.

WEEKLY TUTORING (No Contract)
PhD Tutoring of The Delaware Valley offers weekly, no-contract tutoring online. Our rate is $80 per hour. In-person tutoring is not available without a monthly contract, and we do not offer our free, 10 minute weekly check-in to pay-as-you-go students. Payment must be made at least 4 hours prior to your session, and are non-refundable if you unable to make your agreed appointment.
Union Discounts
PhD Tutoring of The Delaware Valley offers a 5% discount to members of a number of unions, including but not limited to the NEU, the AFT, the NEA, UNISON, USDAW, NASUWT, CTF/FCE, the AEU, the AAUP, SEIU, TWUA, GMB, UFCW, CWU, UAW, AFL-CIO, UNITE, WGA, SAG-AFTRA and the UCU. These discounts can be applied to any of our monthly or quarterly tutoring contracts. We regret that no discount is available for weekly, pay-as-you-go tutoring sessions.

Scholarships
A limited number of sliding-scale scholarships are available to students from lower-income backgrounds. In order to qualify for a sliding scale scholarship, you must contact us and request consideration, and then be able to show that your household presently falls within 225% of the 2023 Federal Poverty guidelines, outlined here.
